SPP 403

Author: Richard Rose
Description: This paper reports the results of a nationwide survey of a representative sample of residents of Ukraine conducted 2-27 February 2005 in the wake of Viktor Yushchenko's victory after three rounds of presidential election ballots. The survey collected evidence about voter intimidation and electoral manipulation as well as about voting behaviour. It also asked the full range of New Europe Barometer questions about support for democratic and undemocratic regimes and about economic and social conditions of individuals. Results are reported separately for ethnic Ukrainians and ethnic Russians as well as totals for the entire sample.
