The June, 2009 NRB survey was conducted when the full impact of the world economic crisis had hit Russia: the economy had contracted by more than 10 percent in the preceding twelve months. In addition to questions specific to the crisis, standard NRB trend questions monitor the extent to which the crisis has or has not altered Russian public opinion. While support for the political regime has fallen, it was previously so high that three-quarters of Russians continue to endorse their system of government. Replies are presented separately for young, middle age and old.
