Author: Richard Rose & Evgeny Tikhomirov, CSPP

Description: The purpose of the New Russia Barometer (NRB) is to monitor the response of Russians to the political and economic transformation of their society by the familiar social science method of nationwide representative sample surveys. The first NRB survey was undertaken in January, 1992, the first month of the newly independent Russian state. NRB surveys have been conducted each year since, repeating a variety of basic economic and political indicators. This SPP paper summarizes trends in the first four NRB surveys, up to and including April, 1995.
