Description: |
The New Russia Barometer (NRB) is designed to help understand how Russians live outside the ring roads that enclose Moscow's political elite. The sixth NRB, a nationally representative sample survey of 1,599 persons, was conducted immediately after the second round of the 1996 presidential election. This SPP paper presents the full results from a lengthy questionnaire that asked many questions about how Russia is governed, as well as about candidates. The report also includes sections on economic conditions, the evaluation of economic reform, income, consumption and destitution. A new feature is a section on the health of Russians and the extent of psychological stress. Each reply is cross-tabulated by voting for Yeltsin or Zyuganov in the second-round ballot on 3rd July.
