(When two surveys have been done in a country in a year, this is shown as 2X).

NATIONWIDE Multistage random samples of adults age 18 years and over. Normally 1,000 respondents, in Russia 2,000. In the Baltic states, there are two samples, one for Baltic nationality and one for Russian ethnics. Sampling error: 2.5%

LANGUAGES: The language of the state, except in the three Baltic states, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova, where interviewing is in Russian as well.

INTERVIEWS: Face-to-face interviews by trained, experienced interviewers working for established national research institutes directly co-operating with the CSPP.
