Description: |
The eighth nationwide New Russia Barometer survey of 1,940 electors concentrates on voting behaviour in the December, 1999 Duma election. It includes trend questions about attitudes toward democratic and undemocratic systems of government and the rights and obligations of citizenship, as well as standard questions concerned with elections and voting. The sections on economic and social conditions monitor how Russians are getting by in multiple economies, unofficial as well as official. There are also batteries of questions about national security concerns, including relations between Russia and other CIS states, East Central Europe, the European Union and NATO. To show the extent to which there are differences between younger and older Russians in their views of state, society and the world around them, the replies to all questions are cross-tabulated by age.
