From one region to the next there is very little variation around the national mean of 72 years of life expectancy. It is three percent above this norm in the Central Black Earth region and 4 percent below in the Far East.

The big difference in women's life expectancy is between the Russian Federation and member states of the OECD. The lowest life expectancy for women among European member states is 75 years in Hungary. Only Turkey reports a lower life expectancy for women than Russia, 70 years as against 72.
